Four model trims to choose from, sharp handling capabilities,
fresh styling and plenty of room for long trips-this is
the versatility offered up by the 2004 Dodge Stratus Sedan.
Bigger than the coupe, the sedan is a little more geared
towards young families needing a responsive, safe, dependable
vehicle that throws in a nice dose power when called upon.
Dodge's 7 year/70,000-mile warranty comes with the new
Stratus sedan, underscoring the faith manufacturers have
in their vehicle. If they're willing to put themselves on
the line like that, they must know something about the level
of engineering holding the 2004 Dodge Stratus sedan together.
Available Models
The four trim levels that Dodge offers with its 2004 Stratus
sedan ascend in the following order: SE, SXT, ES and R/T.
Interior Features
The four-door 2004 Dodge Stratus sedan seats five passengers.
The revamped 2004 sedan features a number of upgrades on
the interior as well as the exterior. A redesigned instrument
gauge cluster fills the front seating area. Power windows
with driver's one-touch down feature, power speed sensitive
door locks and a power sunroof available on SE, ES and R/T
models emphasize the sedan's commitment to convenience.
Power mirrors and a power trunk release are standard. Tinted
glass with front and rear solar control glass can be had
and an auto-dimming rearview mirror is now available on
ES and R/T.
The Dodge Stratus sedan offers a total of 94 cubic feet
of interior volume, perfect for accommodating a variety
of goods and passengers. Customers looking for a little
more refinement in the ride can opt for leather upholstery
on ES and R/T models.
Exterior Features
The Stratus sedan rolls off the line in 2004 with revised
front-end styling, making it look like no other Stratus
model ever has. For an extra bit of flair, the top-line
R/T trim has a rear spoiler.
Performance
The engine assignments with the new Stratus sedan lineup
are a little puzzling. Upper level SXT models come with
a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder motor with 150 horsepower-capability
at 5200 rpm and 167 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. The entry-level
SE model (as a mandatory option), as well as the ES and
R/T, have a 2.7-liter V6 model that increases the output
to 200 horsepower at 5900 rpm and 192 lb-ft of torque at
4300 rpm. All models except the R/T, which has 5-speed manual
transmission, use a 4-speed automatic transmission.
Safety and Security
The 2004 Dodge Stratus sedan has a sturdy, reinforced construction
to handle impacts in the event of a collision. Dual front
airbags are standard. ES models have 4-wheel disc brakes;
R/T models 4-wheel antilock disc brakes. Curtain side airbags
can be installed at a fee.
