powertrain options that its predecessor, the Avenger.
Available Models
The Dodge Stratus Coupe is available in two models
- the four-cylinder Stratus SE Coupe and the powerful six-cylinder
Stratus R/T Coupe.
Interior Features
Within the cabin of the sporty Stratus SE Coupe are available
comforts and conveniences such as an AM/FM stereo radio
with four-disc CD changer and six speakers in the Touring
package. The Stratus R/T Coupe comes standard with a premium
seven-speaker Infinity audio system with AM/FM stereo and
four-disc CD changer. A more basic AM/FM cassette player
and CD player is available as an option on the R/T.
With a seating capacity of five passengers, the Stratus
Coupe comes with additional standards like a 60/40 split
folding seat to accommodate extra cargo while seating either
one or two passengers in the back seat. The trunk features
the best space in its class - 16.3 cubic feet of cargo area.
New for 2002 is a standard battery saver that will turn
off interior lights after three minutes if the lights are
left on when the ignition is off. No more frantic phone
calls to a two truck for a boost!
Exterior Features
The Dodge Stratus Coupe is marked by a decidedly
sporty appearance, bearing defined exterior lines and cues
from muscle cars that make it an attractive vehicle to the
younger set. The Stratus wears the signature Dodge "cross-hair:
grille and refined tail lights that enhance the strong stance
and aerodynamic profile. Two new colors are available this
year - Caffe Latte and Dark Titanium Metallic.
Performance
In this department, the Dodge Stratus SE Coupe
is equipped with a 2.4-litre, single overhead camshaft,
sixteen-valve, in-line four-cylinder engine that delivers
147 horsepower and 158 lb-ft of torque. It accelerated quickly
and easily. The standard transmission is a five-speed manual
- perfect for maximizing the engine's acceleration capabilities.
Automatic transmission is available as an option, as is
the six-cylinder engine that is standard on the Stratus
R/T Coupe. Sixteen-inch tires are standard.
The Dodge Stratus R/T Coupe is built with an impressive
3.0-litre, single overhead camshaft, twenty-four valve,
six-cylinder engine that cranks out 200 horsepower and 205
lb-ft of torque for a truly exceptional drive. The standard
transmission is again five-speed manual, with optional AutoStick
with automatic-equipped models.
A more substantial rear sway bar and rear suspension lateral
link bushing, along with sport-tuned shocks and struts,
provide for precision handling and tight cornering. The
R/T is fitted with seventeen-inch performance tires.
Safety and Security
The Dodge Stratus Coupe is designed with front
and rear crumple zones and side impact door beams to channel
the energy of an impact away from passengers. Each vehicle
is equipped with safety standards such as three-point seatbelts
at all outboard passenger positions, a driver depowered
air bag, passenger depowered air bag, and head restraints.
