2005 will mark the final year of service for Chevrolet's
long-serving minivan. With its truck-based design, impressive
cargo room and thorough list of safety features, it isn't
hard to see why the Chevy Astro lasted as long as it did.
But now the time has come to move on.
As such, this year doesn't see any real changes to the
2005 Chevy Astro. It continues to offer durable, dependable
service for families that need a no-hassle minivan for their
day-to-day travels as well as longer, cross-country adventures.
Available Models
The 2005 Chevrolet Astro is offered in three models: base,
LS and LT.
Interior Features
The reliable Chevy Astro seats eight passengers on two front
bucket seats and two 3-person rear benches. Second-row bucket
seats are optional. With the rear seats removed, the 2005
Astro is able to provide up to 170 cubic feet of cargo space.
The three-model 2005 Chevy Astro lineup gives customers
plenty of options to choose from. The LS is offered at a
nice price and features such comfort items as front and
rear air conditioning, a rear heater, an AM/FM/CD/cassette
player, an overhead console, a compass and more.
In addition to all that, there are a variety of options
available as well.
Exterior Features
The 2005 Chevy Astro comes in one body length with a passenger-side
sliding door. However, side-by-side rear cargo doors or
extra-cost Dutch doors with separate-opening upper glass
are also offered.
Performance
The Chevy Astro is available with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel
drive. The engine under the hood for 2005 is a 4.3-liter
V6. It can generate 190 horsepower at 4400 rpm and 250 lb-ft
of torque at 2800 rpm.
The Astro's V6 engine uses multi-port fuel injection for
long-lasting performance. It is mated to a 4-speed automatic
transmission with overdrive.
Safety and Security
Standard Chevy Astro safety and security features include
a child security latch on the sliding door, battery-rundown
protection and the PASSLock theft-deterrent system. A lockout
provision also prevents the driver's door from locking if
the key is inadvertently left in the ignition. A world-class
brake system further adds to the 2005 Chevy Astro's solid
reputation as a dependable Chevy Truck.
The standard world-class power 4-wheel disc, 4-wheel ABS
brake system, with a highly responsive Hydroboost hydraulic
assist power brake booster and GM's Dynamic Rear Proportioning,
provides quicker, controlled stops and additional safety
alerts. A reserve power assist system provides sufficient
power assist to stop the van if the engine stalls or is
turned off.
