The 2004 Chevy Venture minivan comes in a regular length
model and an extended length version. Extended length models
are bigger and offer available all-wheel drive, but the
regular length Venture isn't lacking in any respect.
For 2004, there are more optional equipment pieces to be
had with the Chevy Venture. XM Satellite Radio and a CD/MP3
player are both newly offered, as are captain's chairs on
LS models. There are also three new exterior colors and
an LS Easy Order Package.
Available Models
The regular length 2004 Chevy Venture is offered in two
trims: Plus and LS. The extended length Venture is covered
in another review.
Interior Features
The Chevy Venture is designed to allow for easy entry and
exit. After all, the kids don't file in and out in an orderly
fashion; they stampede their way through.
To this end, the 2004 Chevy Venture has a low step-in height
and standard dual sliding rear doors. Dual power sliding
doors are available. They provide easy access to the spacious
interior of the Venture. Available separate front and rear
HVAC controls also add to its custom comfort.
A DVD-based entertainment system heads the list of available
options. The system has a 1.5-second "video memory"
which prevents potholes, uneven terrain and other rough
road surfaces from interfering with the sound and picture.
In other words, it will keep the kids happy and quiet for
hours.
Exterior Features
The 2004 Chevy Venture has an available rear-parking assist
system. It alerts the driver of objects or people behind
the vehicle with both audio and visual signals while the
van is in reverse, making Venture the only vehicle on the
road to offer both types of indicators.
Performance
Powering the way for the 2004 regular length Venture is
a 3.4-liter V6 engine. It has the energy to deliver 185
horsepower at 5200 rpm and 210 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm.
Mated to this engine is a 4-speed electronic automatic transmission
with overdrive.
With power rack-and-pinion steering, drivers can maneuver
the Venture as though it were a sedan. Of course, it does
not handle like a roadster, but it doesn't feel like a semi
either.
Safety and Security
The Chevy Venture offers four-wheel antilock brakes, driver
and front-passenger airbags, driver and passenger side-impact
airbags, the LATCH child seat system and child security
rear door locks. Integrated child safety seats are standard
on all vans except for those with captain's chairs.
