The Chevy Tahoe is the manufacturer's full-size sport utility
vehicle, known for its blend of performance features and
comfort appointments. And now it can also brag about being
the top-selling full-size SUV in the U.S.
The 2004 Chevy Tahoe is not content to just sit back and
rest on its laurels, however. New features for the upcoming
model year include new Hydroboost brakes, a tire-pressure
monitor, new wheels and tires, new colors and more. With
all these upgrades, it looks like it will be another good
year for the Chevy Tahoe.
Available Models
The 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe is offered in two trims: LS and
LT.
Interior Features
The Chevy Tahoe is much like Chevrolet's other full-size
sport utility vehicle, the Suburban. Though the Suburban
is a bit larger, both are very roomy and extraordinarily
powerful. The four-door Tahoe has three rows of seating
and can handle up to nine passengers. It also has 104.6
cubic feet of interior cargo volume.
A tri-zone manual-control heating, ventilation and air
conditioning (HVAC) system is standard on Tahoe, though
customers can opt for an automatic system if they want.
Either way, the 2004 Chevy Tahoe cools down and heats up
in a hurry.
For options, you can't do much better than a rear-seat
DVD entertainment system. If you have a large family and
are planning a long, cross-country trek, this is the one
option that is a virtual must-have.
Exterior Features
New wheels highlight the exterior changes for 2004. 16-inch
cast aluminum wheels are available on LS and LT, while 17-inch
five-spoke aluminum wheels with 16-inch steel blackwall
spare are available on LT models. New tire selections include
17-inch all-season P265/70R17 blackwall tires and 17-inch
all-season, P265/70R17 white outlined-letter tires.
Performance
Two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations are
both available with the 2004 Tahoe. LS models are fitted
with a 4.8-liter Vortec V8 engine, able to generate 285
horsepower at 5600 rpm and 295 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm.
4-speed automatic transmission is standard.
LT models feature a 5.3-liter Vortec V8 with 295 horsepower
at 5800 rpm and 330 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm.
Off-roaders need only glance at the Z71 package before
the salivation begins. It includes specially tuned off-road
suspension, specific shock absorbers, jounce jumpers with
standard stabilizer bars, a locking rear differential, four-wheel
drive and P265/70R17 all-terrain tires.
Safety and Security
The 2004 Chevy Tahoe has a new right front passenger safety
belt reminder. Advanced dual-stage airbags, a tire-pressure
monitor, Hydroboost brakes and the LATCH child seat system
are also standard.
