With a generous helping of trendy appeal and a vibrant personality, the spunky new 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio Convertible is set for another successful year. The clever design has been updated over the years to remain contemporary without compromising its original roots. Add to that solid engineering, luxuries, and world-class safety features and the Cabrio makes for a fun and reliable vehicle.

Available Models
The 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio Convertible is offered in three lively models - Cabrio GL, Cabrio GLS, and Cabrio GLX. Each vehicle builds and improves on the features of the impressive base model Cabrio GL Convertible.

Interior Features
The Volkswagen Cabrio GL is graced with amenities such as air conditioning, integrated front door panel armrests, valet key, power door locks, AM/FM cassette player and available CD changer, folding rear seat to expand cargo area, and a three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel.

GLS and GLX models add power windows and heatable front seats, and the interior of the Cabrio GLX is finished off in fine style with genuine leather upholstery.

Exterior Features
The distinctive exterior of the 2-door Volkswagen Cabrio Convertible features body colored bumpers with black lower section, body color door handles, tinted green glass, body color grille with center logo, integrated halogen fog lights, body color side moldings, body color mirror housings, and non-metallic paint (metallic available).

Each vehicle is equipped with fourteen-inch steel wheels - except for the GLX, which is fitted with fourteen-inch alloy wheels. And for the fun part, the Cabrio is built with a manually operated, fully padded six-layer convertible cloth top with rear glass window and defroster.

Performance
One engine size is offered for each of the 2002 models - a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine that produces 115 horsepower and 122 lb-ft of torque. The standard transmission is five-speed manual with optional automatic, and every vehicle is equipped with power assisted front vented disc brakes, rear solid disc brakes, power assisted rack-and-pinion steering, and front stabilizer bar.

For precision handling, the Cabrio Convertible features independent front MacPherson struts with stabilizer bar, and an independent tract correcting torsion beam rear axle.

Safety and Security
The 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio Convertible is armed with ABS brakes, three-point outboard passenger seatbelts, driver air bag, passenger air bag, rear integrated head restraints, front height adjustable head restraints, and side impact air bags. For those of you traveling with youngsters, the rear seating area is equipped with child seat tethers and anchors in rear outboard seating positions.
