The exciting Mazda Tribute boldly launched itself onto
the highly competitive SUV market last year and has scored
exceptionally well against other vehicles in its class.
It is touted to "perform like a sports car", and
indeed lives up to the expectation. As well, it boasts a
generous array of amenities and is backed by solid safety
specifications.
Available Models
Along list of models head into 2002, making it
easier to select the vehicle that fits the bill and your
budget. The Tribute DX SUV starts us off, followed by the
Tribute DX 4WD, Tribute LX-V6, Tribute, Tribute LX-V6 4WD,
Tribute ES-V6, and finally the Tribute ES-V6 4WD. Obviously,
these models offer both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive
version, and they build upon one another in terms of features
and benefits. There are also two engine sizes - 2.0-litre
and 3.0-litre.
Interior Features
The Mazda Tribute SUV boasts a spacious cabin
that can easily accommodate five passengers with extra leg
room to spare. Each vehicle features a low step-in height
and wide doors. Seating on the ES model is luxurious leather,
while the LX model sports a six-way power adjustable cloth
driver's seat.
The
rear seat handily splits 60/40 and folds down to create
additional cargo space when you need it. The cargo area
is equipped with tie-down hooks. For terrific entertainment
value, the Tribute comes with a standard AM/FM stereo with
CD player, with audio upgrades available on the upper models.
Features and options range from air conditioning to cruise
control, power windows, power door locks, theft deterrent
system, and a remote keyless entry system.
Exterior Features
Along with a few new paint colors, the Mazda Tribute
SUV highlights an eye-catching five-point grille with large
chrome Mazda brand symbol, creased hood and fenders, and
a rugged yet sophisticated line. Each vehicle sports sixteen-inch
alloy wheels and tinted privacy glass.
Performance
Front strut and rear multi-link independent suspension
combine smartly with power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering
for outstanding handling and precision cornering. The DX
model is equipped with a 2.0-litre, DOHC, four-cylinder
engine that produces 130 horsepower. It comes with a standard
five-speed manual transmission, with optional automatic.
Revving up performance, the LX-V6 and ES-V6 cruise down
the highways to the tune of a 3.0-litre V6 engine with a
standard four-speed automatic transmission that is highly
responsive and efficient. All three models have received
a low emission vehicle rating.
The four-wheel drive models add the versatility of power
on all fours to conquer even the most demanding weather
conditions and tough roads.
Safety and Security
The Mazda Tribute SUV is equipped with a driver
depowered air bag, passenger depowered air bag, and optional
front side impact air bags. Each vehicle is bolstered by
side impact door beams, and both front and rear crumple
zones. Standard equipment continues with three-point seatbelts,
head restraints, child safety locks in the rear seating
area, and child seat tethers and anchors.
