RAV4 sport utility is a leader in the industry and experienced
a redesign last season that brought about upgrades in performance,

For 2002, the Toyota RAV4 is available in one
outstanding overall model, with various packages available

Interior Features
With a seating capacity of five, the RAV4 is
pleasantly equipped with standards such as a handy 50/50
split folding, tumbling, and reclining rear seat to create
more cargo space while at the same time accommodating passengers.
For entertainment value, each vehicle comes with an AM/FM
stereo with AM/FM stereo with cassette player and four speakers.
For your convenience, there are six grocery bag hooks in
the cargo area, front map lights, illuminated entry system,
and map pockets integrated into the front doors. As well,
the RAV4 features four cupholders, coat hooks, center console,
and storage compartments on both sides of the cargo area
and under the cargo floor, a net pocket on the cargo door,
door pockets, and padded storage area under the steering
wheel.
Options on the base model include opulent leather seating,
leather-wrapped steering wheel, and leather-wrapped gearshift
knob. The "L" Package adds air conditioning, cruise
control, AM/FM stereo with cassette player and CD player
with six speakers, power door locks, power windows, and
carpeted floor mats.
Exterior Features
The Toyota RAV4 is built with sixteen-inch styled
steel wheels, gray painted bumpers and bodyside moldings,
intermittent rear wiper, dual manual remote outside mirrors,
and aerodynamic multi-reflector halogen head lights. The
"L" Package tags on integrated fog lights, a tonneau
cover, color-keyed bumpers and bodyside moldings, plus color-keyed
dual heated outside mirrors, door handles, and a color-keyed
spare tire cover.
Among the available options are a power tilt-slide moonroof,
privacy glass, roof rack, rear spoiler, and five-spoke aluminum
alloy wheels.
Performance
Each 2002 Toyota RAV4 SUV boasts an all-aluminum,
2.0-litre, four-cylinder VVT-i engine that spits out 148
horsepower and 142 lb-ft of torque. The standard transmission
is five-speed manual, with a four-speed automatic transmission
offered as an option. Depending on your driving requirements,
you may choose either a two-wheel drive model or a four-wheel
drive model.
The RAV4 sports a front independent MacPherson strut with
L-shaped control arm and stabilizer bar suspension, with
a double wishbone coil spring independent rear suspension
with trailing arms and low-pressure nitrogen-filled shock
absorbers and stabilizer bar.
Safety and Security
The Toyota RAV4 is equipped with available anti-lock
brakes with electronic brake force distribution, and standards
such as three-point seatbelts at all seating positions,
head restraints, side impact door beams, child seat anchors
and tethers, a driver air bag, and a passenger air bag.
An auto up/down feature with jam protection on the driver's
side window and an engine immobilizer are both available
for theft protection as options.
