For decades, Toyota has been a name that is synonymous
with quality, longevity, and excellent value both upon purchase
and when it comes to resale value down the road. Long a
favorite with families, it dominates every segment of the
industry and the new 2002 Toyota Sienna Minivan is no exception.
It has captured the attention and respect of drivers for
the past five years, and continues to make even more upgrades
as it develops.
Available Models
To accommodate your work, family, and leisure
activities, the Toyota Sienna Minivan is offered in three
different models - Sienna CE, Sienna LE, and Sienna XLE.
They share similar performance specifications, but each
model builds on the base model's extensive features. As
well, new for 2002 is the Sienna Symphony Special Edition
Package.
Interior Features
Within an exceptionally comfortable interior,
sup to seven passengers can be accommodated easily. Luxuries
include a six-way adjustable driver's seat, dual covered
vanity mirrors, battery-saver feature, tilt steering wheel,
auto-off headlights, two additional power ports, dual zone
front and rear air conditioning, and an illuminated ignition
keyring. The third row seat split 50/50 and can slide forward,
recline, fold, tumble, or detach. Fourteen cupholders line
the interior depending on seating configuration, and there
are plenty of storage compartments throughout.
The LE model features power-operated rear quarter windows
with privacy glass, power door locks, power windows, cruise
control, dual illuminated covered vanity mirrors, and adjustable
front headrests.
Up
to the next level, the Sienna XLE sports multi-adjustable
power seats, second row captains chairs, dual-zone front
and rear automatic climate control with outside temperature
gauge, a JBL premium sound system, and keyless entry system.
The Symphony Edition lists an eight-speaker JBL premium
sound system with AM/FM stereo and cassette and CD players,
remote keyless entry system, captain's chairs in the first
two rows, power six-way driver's seat, leather-wrapped steering
wheel, and HomeLink.
Exterior Features
Last year's line up saw the introduction of sportier
new front fascia with a redesigned grille and front bumper,
multi-reflector headlights and corner lights, revised tail
lights, and color-keyed dual outside mirrors. In the CE
model, a roof rack is available as an option, and the LE
model features dual power outside mirrors as a standard.
XLE highlights a standard roof rack, painted bumpers, dual
color-keyed heated outside mirrors, and fifteen-inch aluminum
alloy wheels.
Performance
Each Toyota Sienna Minivan is built with an efficient
and quiet 3.0-litre, 24-valve, six-cylinder VVT-i engine
that cranks out 210 horsepower and 220 lb-ft of torque.
The fuel economy rating is outstanding at 19/24 mpg (city/hwy).
Smooth control is delivered thanks to the independent front
MacPherson strut suspension with L-shaped lower arm and
stabilizer bar combined with a torsion beam rear suspension.
Each vehicle features power rack-and-pinion steering and
is equipped with all-season radials.
Safety and Security
Outstanding in this department, the Toyota Sienna
is built with ABS brakes, driver side air bag, passenger
side air bag, side impact door beams, front and rear crumple
zones, sliding door child protection lock, and three-point
seatbelts in all outboard seating positions. Available options
include side impact air bags, vehicle skid control and electronic
brake distributions with brake assist.
