A popular choice among families and those with active lifestyle, the new 2002 Mazda MPV features a redesigned interior that accommodates lots of passengers and plenty of cargo. Add to that the all-new powerful upgraded engine and precision handling, for a versatile vehicle with tremendous performance.

Available Models
The 2002 Mazda MPV is offered in the MPV LX Model and the MPV ES model. They essentially mirror each other point for point, with the ES model featuring extra luxuries and safety features.

Interior Features
The Mazda MPV LX sports air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, a remote keyless entry system with panic features, side-by-side second row seating, and a tumble-under third row seat that flattens completely. The list of standard goes on to include cruise control, tilt steering wheel with audio controls, and illuminated visor vanity mirrors. It also headlines a cloth interior, and an AM/FM stereo with CD player.

The seating capacity is seven passengers with loads of cargo space to spare. Options on the MPV LX model are listed as a power glass moonroof, and audio upgrades.

Up to the next level, the Mazda MPV LX luxury package features an eight-way power driver's seat, in-dash CD changer, and a convenient seat side table. The MPV ES adds leather upholstery, rear air conditioning, more audio upgrades, and chrome interior accents.

Exterior Features
Among the standards on the MPV LX are fifteen-inch alloy wheels, rear window privacy glass, and an overall improved aerodynamic design for improved fuel efficiency. The MPV ES adds seventeen-inch alloy wheels, and sliding power rear doors with sliding windows.

Performance
The 2002 Mazda MPV features an all-new 3.0-litre, DOHC, 24-valve V6 engine that produces 200 horsepower and 200 lbs-ft of torque. The standard five-speed automatic transmission is also new and makes a big difference in the vehicle's performance. The fuel economy rating has improved greatly as a result of the redesigned engine.

The finely tuned suspension is quite a treat, offering up a smooth and quiet ride, with minimal body lean.

Safety and Security
Each Mazda MPV features ABS brakes, electronic brake force distribution, and optional traction control. The list continues with a driver side air bag, passenger side air bag, and optional front seat side impact air bags. All outboard seating positions are fitted with three-point seatbelts with pretensioners.

For those with youngsters, there are child seat tethers and anchors. Other safety features include a remote keyless entry system with panic feature, and side impact door beams.
