The bold and sporty Ford Edge returns for 2009 with the
addition of more features and a new Sport model it should
remain as one of the most popular crossovers on the market.
Available Models
Four Models of the Edge are available to choose from - the
2009 Ford Edge SE, SEL, Limited and the new Sport model.
Several packages are available to customize the Edge even
further such as the Convenience Package, Leather Comfort
Package, Blue Suede Interior, Cargo Package, Class II Trailer
Tow/Prep Package and the Sight and Sound Package which features
premium sound and ambient lighting for the interior.
Interior Features
Powering the Ford Edge is a 3.5 liter V-6 engine that delivers
265 horsepower and 250 lb.-ft of torque. The Edge's drivetrain
is available in a front wheel drive or all wheel drive and
standard is a six speed automatic transmission that achieves
a respectable 17 city mpg and 24 highway mpg rating on the
FWD model.
Exterior Features
The already bold and sporty Ford Edge gets an even sportier
appearance with the new Sport model. The Edge Sport features
an eight-piece factory installed body kit that includes
body colored side skirts, rear skirt, lower door caps and
a unique front air dam with integrated fog lamps and a lower
grille insert. Four exterior colors are available for the
Edge Sport: Brilliant Silver, Redfire, Black and Sport Blue.
For those with a love for the outdoors a large glass moon
roof called the Vista Roof provides amazing views of the
sky - it features two panels a large front panel that measures
27.3" x 29.4" and a rear panel that measures 15.75"
x 31.3".
Performance
The spacious interior of the Edge seats five comfortably.
The rear seats fold flat to create a large level load floor
with 69 cubic feet of cargo room. To further customize the
interior of the Ford Edge is ambient lighting available
in seven colors with the Sight and Sound Package. The center
console features a cargo storage system that utilizes a
removable divider and tray that allows both vertical and
horizontal storage.
The available next generation navigation system with SIRIUS™
Travel Link gives access to up to the minute information
such as real time weather and traffic reports, fuel information
from 120,000 stations that is sorted by distance and price
as well as entertainment information such as movie listings.
Safety and Security
The 2009 Ford Edge definitely delivers on safety receiving
a five star crash test rating in the Frontal Driver Rating,
Side Driver Rating and Side Rear Passenger Rating categories
from NHTSA. Safety features include -- AdvanceTrac®with
RSC an electronic stability control system that monitors
yaw and roll motions with two gyroscopic sensors, Ford's
exclusive Safety Canopy™ side curtain air bags and
Ford's Personal Safety System™ a suite of safety features
