The 2005 Chrysler Sebring Coupe is the driving enthusiast's
model of this successful mid-size entry. Like the naughty
younger brother, the Coupe offers a sporty alternative that
will appeal to many. This sporty image is supported by styling
and performance but is also supported by roominess, utility
with a spacious passenger compartment. Luxury can also be
chosen, if desired and all for a reasonable price that makes
this a very credible offering.
Available Models
The 2005 Chrysler Sebring Coupe comes in Base and Limited
versions.
Interior Features
The two-door Chrysler Sebring Coupe has room for five passengers
with available space optimized by Chrysler's cab-forward
concept, which extends the windshield forward, increasing
the length and width of the cabin.
The 2005 Chrysler Sebring Coupe is a sporty vehicle and
it has a business-like interior. Air conditioning, cruise
control, a remote entry system and an AM/FM radio with in-dash
4-disc CD changer are standard. Limited models, come with
standard Infinity Audio and a leather-wrapped steering-wheel
with radio controls, and optional leather upholstery. The
Touring Group option package, available for either model,
includes a universal-garage door opener, a 6-way power driver
seat, an outside-temperature indicator and a compass.
Exterior Features
All three 2005 Sebring vehicles have unique exterior designs
and styling that hasn't been substantially changed since
last year. The Coupe has bold wheel openings that flare
out from round-cross-section side panels. The belt line
drops down and then ascends sharply toward the tail, and
the windshield pillars flow into the rounded roof. Trim
differences include alloy wheels and 205/60HR16 compared
to 215/50R17 for the sportier Limited edition.
Performance
Two engine choices are available for the 2005 Sebring coupe.
Base models offer a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder model with 147
horsepower at 5500 rpm and 158 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm
while Limited versions feature a 3.0-liter V6 with 200 horsepower
at 5500 rpm and 205 lb-ft of torque at 4500 rpm, a significantly
more powerful engine choice. 4-speed automatic transmission
comes standard but the Limited has an optional 5-speed manual-shift
capability. Both these engines top out the fuel efficiency
rating with 28mpg on the highway.
The current chassis of the Sebring coupe was introduced
in 2001. It has much more rigidity than the previous generation
car. The front suspension consists of MacPherson struts
with lower A-arms and an anti-roll bar. In the rear are
upper A-arms with lower lateral and semi-trailing links,
coil springs and an anti-roll bar.
Safety and Security
Standard safety equipment on the 2005 Chrysler Sebring coupe
consists of dual front airbags, three-point front seatbelts
with adjustable anchors and rear seat ISOFIX child restraint
anchors. Antilock brakes and traction control are optional.
