The 300M is Chrysler's sporty 'near-luxury' sedan. However,
the term 'near-luxury' is pretty subjective, to say the
least. Suffice it to say, the 2003 Chrysler 300M is brimming
with features that make relaxation an inevitable consequence
of the ride. On the other hand, if it's heart-pumping power
and speed you crave, the 300M can also satisfy.
The 2003 Chrysler 300M is certainly a heavy-hitter in the
Chrysler lineup. It uses the front-wheel-drive chassis of
the Chrysler Concorde, but has a unique character that is
evoked with more European-flavored styling and a slightly
shorter body.
Available Models
The 2003 Chrysler 300M is offered in two trim levels: base
and Special.
Interior Features
With four doors, the 2003 Chrysler 300M sedan can fit five
with ease. Prospective customers will be pleased when they
first take a peek inside the 2003 Chrysler 300M. There they
will find lush, leather upholstery, a tilt leather-wrapped
steering wheel with radio controls, cruise control, automatic
climate control air conditioning, heated 8-way power front
bucket seats, a memory system for the driver seat, mirrors
and radio, power everything, a trip computer and more. And
that's just the base trim level.
Experiencing the music is another feature manufacturers
of the 300M have addressed. An AM/FM stereo radio with cassette
player, in-dash 6-disc CD changer, Chrysler/InfinityII Spatial
Imaging Sound System with a 360-watt amplifier and
9 speakers is standard on the 300M Special and available
with the base trim.
Exterior Features
The 300M's sleek styling often hides the highly functional
equipment it offers. The 300M Special has high-powered xenon
headlights that are 2.5 times brighter than halogen bulbs.
In addition, the Special also has side mirrors with supplemental
indicators.
Performance
There is no doubting the 300M's ability to get up to speed
quickly and to hold that level of power for a long time.
The engine that makes it all happen is a 3.5-liter V6 with
250 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 250 lb-ft. of torque at 3900
rpm. Standard on both the 300M and 300M Special is Chrysler's
AutoStick Driver-Interactive Transaxle Shifter, which gives
drivers the option to cruise effortlessly or to clutchlessly
control each of the gear changes, up or down.
The ride of the 300M is quite smooth and quiet as well.
A four-wheel, fully independent suspension system is primarily
responsible for this.
Safety and Security
Safety and security are not overlooked either. The 300M
comes with a theft deterrent system, dual front airbags,
4-wheel antilock brakes and an emergency inside trunk release.
The top-line 300M Special adds a standard tire-pressure
monitor.
