The 2003 Lexus ES 300 sits at the top of its class, the
aptly named "entry-luxury" segment. Geared toward
luxury, this quiet-riding, full-size sedan sold extremely
well in 2002, possibly due to its redesign. In 2003, it
continues to offer style, comfort, and those special extras
at a very affordable price. Now slightly larger than earlier
models, it is roomier than ever.
Available Models
The 2003 Lexus ES 300 is available in the Base model, which
comes loaded with features, and ready for option packages
as well. This top-of-the-line vehicle contains 5-speed electronic
automatic transmission.
Interior Features
A new and welcome interior feature for 2003 is the optional
power-adjustable brake and accelerator pedals. Other options
include a navigation system, which operates on a 3-position
tilt for optimum visibility, and premium Mark Levinson audio
with an in-dash 6-disc CD changer. The Lexus ES 300 can
also be fitted with leather upholstery, heated front seats,
and a power rear sunshade.
For those who would rather not purchase options, the standard
version of the 2003 Lexus ES 300 contains numerous interior
features. These include a trip computer, air conditioning
with dual-zone automatic climate control and an air filter
system, a 10-way power driver seat with power lumbar adjustment,
an 8-way power passenger seat, power windows and power door
locks, and a tachometer. Other standard interior features
are wood trim, cruise control, and a tilt leather-wrapped
steering wheel.
Exterior Features
There are 16-inch wheels on the 2003 Lexus ES 300. This
sedan also comes equipped with a power sunroof, and automatic-off
headlights. Chrome alloy wheels are an option. Consumers
can also purchase high-intensity headlights equipped with
rain-sensing windshield wipers, if desired.
Performance
The Lexus ES 300 contains an aluminum 3.0-litre V6 engine
that delivers 210 hp at 5800 rpm, and 220 lbs-ft of torque
at 4400 rpm. This luxury car comes with a 5-speed electronic
automatic transmission that enhances both handling and performance.
Safety and Security
As is expected in a sedan of this caliber, the consumer
receives numerous safety and security features for their
money. These include dual front airbags, front torso airbags,
and curtain side airbags, as well as 4-wheel anti-lock disc
brakes, fog lights, and daytime running lights. A theft-deterrent
system is also a standard feature on the ES 300.
An attractive option available on this car is the Vehicle
Stability Control antiskid/traction system, in which Lexus
has included a full-power brake-assist feature.
