Two years ago, Lexus augmented its lineup of vehicles by
debuting the SC 430, a luxury two-door convertible. Since
that time, this sporty car has shown its mettle, providing
excellent acceleration and handling ability. Coupled with
its performance is a sturdy build, outfitted with luxury
trim and features.
Available Models
The 2003 Lexus SC 430 is available in one 2-door model.
It is a convertible car, with 5-speed automatic transmission.
Interior Features
The inside of the 2003 Lexus SC 430 is furnished luxuriously
in leather and real wood trim. It contains a standard navigation
system, and a memory system that retains settings for the
mirrors, the front seats, and the steering wheel. This steering
wheel is wood, wrapped in leather, and functions with a
power tilt/telescoping capability. It also comes equipped
with radio controls.
Other standard interior features include power steering,
an interior air filter, air conditioning with dual-zone
automatic climate controls, and a Mark Levinson AM/FM radio
with in-dash 6-disc CD changer. The 2003 Lexus SC 430 also
contains a tachometer, and power windows and door locks,
and is equipped with remote keyless entry. The front seats
of the SC 430 are heated, and have power settings that move
the seats in ten directions, and control lumbar adjustment.
There is also a rear seat, which can be used for cargo,
or to accommodate children and pets.
Exterior Features
One of the most attractive features of the 2003 Lexus SC
430 is its power retractable metal roof. When down, this
tight-fitting roof almost completely eliminates wind noise.
The Lexus SC 430 rides on 18-inch alloy wheels fitted with
performance tires, and also has high-intensity discharge
headlights.
Performance
Inside the 2003 Lexus SC 430 is a 4.3-litre dohc V8 engine
that delivers a powerful 300 hp at 5600 rpm, and 325 lbs-ft
of torque at 3400 rpm. Operating on 5-speed automatic transmission,
this sporty convertible does 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds. Its
fuel efficiency is rated at 18/23 mpg (city/highway). Standard
traction control adds to its already competitive performance.
Safety and Security
Safety features on the Lexus SC 430 include dual front airbags,
front side airbags, anti-lock 4-wheel disc brakes with full-power
assist, and an anti-skid/traction control system. Other
standard safety features include a tire pressure monitor,
daytime running lights, and fog lights. There is also a
theft-deterrent system, though the metal roof means this
convertible is less susceptible to theft than those fitted
with soft roofs.
