The XK Series needs only to utter its categorization to
entice customers. As a luxury sports car, the 2003 Jaguar
XK Series is a car-enthusiasts dream. If you are ever lucky
enough to drive one of the Jaguar XK Series models, you
will be a very happy person.
When you get inside and fire up the engine, you will instantly
realize the power at your control. Looking around the interior
confirms luxury status, while a few turns at the wheel will
leave you begging for more. After all, you are driving a
luxury sports car.
Available Models
The 2003 Jaguar XK Series comes in two body styles: coupe
and convertible. XK8 and XKR trims are offered with both.
Interior Features
Two-door Jaguar XK Series coupes and convertibles seat four
passengers. There are countless standard interior features
that make the ride as comfortable as ever. Air conditioning
with automatic climate controls, a power tilt/telescopic
wood/leather-wrapped steering wheel with radio controls,
leather upholstery, heated front bucket seats with power
lumbar support, a memory system for the driver seat, steering
wheel and mirrors, an Alpine AM/FM/cassette player with
a 6-disc CD changer and a trip computer are all provided.
An electrically adjustable steering column with entry/exit
mode is now standard on all models (memory optional). New
equipment options include an upgraded DVD-based navigation
system and an electrochromatic mirror with compass.
Exterior Features
The style of the 2003 Jaguar XK Series has always been about
aesthetics. With subtle curves and a flowing form, the coupe
and convertible truly are works of art.
Performance
As sports cars, the 2003 Jaguar XK coupe and convertible
are fast and nimble. Both available engines are more powerful
than ever, and that is really saying something. XK8 trims
have a 4.2-liter V8 engine with 294 horsepower and 303 lb-ft.
of torque. XKR models are speed demons, featuring a turbocharged
engine of the same dimensions. Pumping out 390 horsepower
and 399 lb-ft. of torque, the XKR will send chills down
your spine.
The result: the XKR coupe reaches 60mph from a standstill
in 5.2 seconds (0-100km/h in 5.4 seconds), with the XK8
taking 6.1 seconds (0-100km/h in 6.4 seconds).
Safety and Security
Race-bred Brembo brakes now standard on the XKR and optional
on other models. Additional standard equipment across the
board includes dual front airbags, front side airbags, antilock
4-wheel disc brakes, brake assist, an antiskid system and
a rear-obstacle-detection system.
2003 Jaguar XK Highlights
Subtle
exterior changes include new badging, a new headlight
design, three new alloy wheel designs and new exterior
colors Pacific (sapphire blue), Jaguar Racing
Green, Ebony (solid black) and Midnight (deep metallic
black).
