The 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 is a ¾-ton full-size
pickup that extends the range of ability of the Silverado
1500 series. Larger and stronger, the 2500 increases the
hauling power and working capabilities of the Silverado
to accommodate customers in need of a no-nonsense vehicle.
As a tested Chevy truck, you can be sure that the 2003 Chevrolet
Silverado 2500 will provide all the durability and reliability
that is standard across all models.
Available Models
The Chevrolet Silverado 2500 is offered in regular cab,
extended cab and crew cab body sizes. The 2500 regular and
extended cab come with a 6.5-ft flare-fender Sportside Box,
a 6.5-ft Fleetside Short Box, or an 8.1-ft. Fleetside Long
Box, while all crew cabs have the Fleetside Short Box. In
addition, there are also three models to choose from: base,
LS, and LT.
Interior Features
Regular cabs seat two or three and extended and crew cabs
seat up to six people. The 2003 Chevrolet Silverado is given
redesigned seats and center console, while Dark Charcoal
Gray is a new interior color. Base models are equipped with
air conditioning with dual-zone manual climate control,
power steering, tilt steering wheel, vinyl upholstery, AM/FM
radio, engine-hour meter, trip computer and a functional
cargo-box light. LS models add cruise control, AM/FM CD
player, carpeting, outside-temperature indicator, compass,
overhead console, power windows and door locks and remote
keyless entry.
Top-line LT models, available with extended cabs with a
long box and crew cabs, fill the Silverado's cabin with
even more features, adding the OnStar System, leather upholstery,
heated bucket seats and a Bose AM/FM radio with in-dash
6-disc CD changer. The options list is long and thorough,
offering such things as a DVD system and XM Satellite Radio.
Exterior Features
Like all 2003 Silverados, the 2500 series has a new front-end
look. The front grille is touched up and the bumper has
larger, recessed fog lamps. In addition, there are new body-side
moldings that add a more protection and restyled taillamps
for the rear. Dark Gray Metallic and Arrival Blue are two
new colors offered for 2003.
Performance
The 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 is equipped with a powerful
6.0-liter V8 engine with 300 horsepower at 4400 rpm and
360 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm, providing plenty of muscle
to handle the toughest of jobs. Not surprisingly, 2500 models
are offered in 2WD and 4WD configurations.
An advanced new multiplexed electrical architecture makes
the 2003 Silverado even more practical. A communication
network transfers data throughout the vehicle, enabling
the driver information center to monitor and to report on
as many as 34 system functions, including new service indicators
for "Ice Possible" and "Door Ajar."
Safety and Security
The 2003 Silverado 2500 cab is equipped with standard antilock
4-wheel disc brakes, dual front airbags and daytime running
lights.
