The 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 dominate the heavy-duty
full-size pickup segment. Both the ¾-ton 2500 and
the 1-ton 3500 have what it takes to get any job done. They
are as tough as they come, as rugged as anything and as
dependable as the sun rising every day.
The all-new 2003 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty lineup rounds in
as the most powerful on the market, with the strongest diesel
engine and class-leading towing and payload capacity and
interior room. Newly restyled and with a plethora of unique
features, these guys can really perform.
Available Models
The 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 are offered in two body
styles: a two-door regular cab and a Quad Cab four-door
crew cab. Both come in ST, SLT and Laramie trims.
Interior Features
Regular cabs have two doors and can seat up to three people
across the front. Quad Cab crew cabs have two front-hinged
rear doors and can squeeze in six. Though the 2500 and 3500
are designed with heavy-duty work in mind, they don't relegate
interior comfort by any means.
The Laramie model, in particular, provides a set of interior
features rarely found in heavy-duty trucks. An overhead
console with a storage bin, map lights, a HomeLink universal
garage door opener, a compass, an outside temperature display,
a trip computer, an AM/FM stereo radio with six-disc in-dash
CD changer and steering wheel mounted audio controls and
dual zone temperature control are all part of the equation.
Exterior Features
The 2500 and 3500 are tough looking and don't tolerate softness
lightly. Laramie models are further distinguished by 17"
x 8" machined cast-aluminum wheels and P265/70R17 outline
white letter all-season tires. 3500s have the imposing look
of dual rear wheels as well (except Quad Cab short beds).
Performance
In a move that surprises no one, manufacturers make 2WD
and 4WD configurations available with the 2003 Dodge Ram
2500 and 3500. Three engines are offered. The standard is
a 5.7-liter Hemi Magnum V8 that generates 345 horsepower
and 375 lb-ft. of torque. The first optional engine is an
8.0-liter Magnum V10 engine with 305 horsepower and 440
lb-ft. of torque.
The final engine is an all-new, high-pressure, common-rail
injection, High Output Cummins Turbo Diesel engine. The
new High Output Cummins Turbo Diesel is the most powerful
turbo diesel engine available in the 2500/3500 segment,
producing 305 horsepower 555 lb-ft. of torque.
Safety and Security
4-wheel antilock disc brakes and dual front airbags are
standard. Curtain side airbags are optional.
