The Trailblazer is Chevrolet's midsize SUV, blending the
handling and agility of smaller Trackers with the ruggedness
and towing ability of larger Suburbans and Tahoes. The result
of this blend of capabilities is a versatile vehicle that
offers an unequaled combination of strength, power and high-tech
precision, wrapped in a design that evokes patented Chevy
Truck toughness. Joined by a larger Trailblazer EXT, the
two comprehensively cover the midsize SUV segment.
Available Models
The 2003 Chevy Trailblazer comes in three models: LS, LT
and LTZ. Also available is a North Face Edition, which includes
a number of special features designed for the outdoor enthusiast.
Interior Features
The four-door 2003 Chevy Trailblazer seats five passengers.
The base LS model is equipped with air conditioning with
dual-zone manual controls, power steering, tilt steering
wheel, power windows and door locks and an AM/FM/CD player.
The LT adds cruise control, an 8-way power driver seat,
heated power mirrors and a compass, while the top-line LTZ
completes things with the OnStar System, an 8-way power
passenger seat, driver-seat and mirror memory and steering-wheel
radio and climate controls.
The interior of the new North Face Edition is decked out
with North Face seats, mesh map pockets, liftgate lighting,
an underfloor storage cargo liner, heavy-duty floor/cargo
mats and special North Face duffel bags and blanket. In
addition, there are a number of options that can be added
to spice up the Trailblazer.
Exterior Features
The exterior of the North Face Edition is designed for the
bush. It features lower accent-color body cladding, body-colored
outside rear-view mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, running
lamps, a liftgate luggage rack, headlamp washers, B-pillar
badging and a clothesline to dry out whatever needs to be
dried.
Performance
The upgraded engine on the 2003 Chevy Trailblazer adds more
power and meets or exceeds all sound requirements. In addition,
it is also quite fuel-efficient, a feature everyone likes.
The engine is a Vortec 4.2-liter/ 256-cu. inch I6 with 275
horsepower at 6000 rpm and 275 lb-ft of torque at 3600 rpm.
Four-wheel drive is available with all Trailblazers.
For a large vehicle, the 2003 Chevy Trailblazer handles
exceptionally well. This is a result of its five-link rear
suspension, independent, double-A-arm front suspension and
hydraulic power-assist rack-and-pinion steering.
Safety and Security
Chevy Trailblazers are given a comprehensive safety package
with four-wheel vented disc antilock brakes with front aluminum
dual piston calipers and dual-stage front airbags. The brakes
use an advanced system of 12 specially tuned body mounts
to isolate road inputs and noise, limiting vibration and
harshness on any surface.
