America's favorite sports car has been wowing owners and
jealous onlookers for fifty years. To celebrate this half-century
of automotive excellence, Chevrolet offers a 2003 50th Anniversary
Edition. For Corvette enthusiasts (and there are quite a
few out there), this special model is simply a must have.
For first-time customers, there isn't much you have to say
to invoke interest in the 2003 Chevrolet Corvette. Listing
the Corvette's capabilities is generally more than enough,
for there is no question that this perennial speedster can
really move.
Available Models
The 50th Anniversary Edition model is joined by two-door
hatchback, convertible and Z06 coupe models.
Interior Features
It's almost a shame that only two people can sit inside
the 2003 Chevrolet Corvette and watch the landscape zip
by. If the performance ability of the Corvette doesn't impress
(a highly unlikely scenario), its interior should. All models
receive such standard features as air conditioning with
dual-zone automatic climate controls, power steering, tilt
leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, leather
upholstery, bucket seats, 6-way power seats, Bose AM/FM/CD
player, digital clock, tachometer, outside-temperature indicator,
map lights, illuminated visor mirrors, remote decklid/hatchback
release, floormats and more.
The 50th Anniversary Edition spices up the interior as
well as the exterior with a number of unique features. With
a Shale interior including color coordinated instrument
panel and console, embroidered badges on the seats and floormats,
padded door armrests and grips and a Shale convertible top,
this special model is truly a collector's item.
Exterior Features
We all know a Corvette when we see one. There is no denying
the Corvette's look, and other manufacturers give it the
ultimate respect it deserves by refraining from ever thinking
of emulating its style. The 50th Anniversary Edition is
coated in sleek 50th Anniversary Red exterior paint, with
specific badging and champagne-painted anniversary wheels
with special emblems also part of the package.
Performance
This is where it gets fun. The standard engine on the 2003
Chevrolet Corvette is a 5.7-liter V8 with a staggering 350
horsepower at 5600 rpm. Customers can choose between 4 speed
automatic transmission and 6-speed manual transmission.
There's no point in mentioning that the Corvette is fast
- this is an enormous understatement, to say the least.
For even more speed, one need only step up to the Z06 hardback,
which offers a similar-sized engine that pumps out a whopping
405 horsepower at 6000 rpm (6-speed manual transmission).
Yes, it can really fly.
Handling all that speed is a steady suspension system,
scalpel-sharp steering components and Magnetic Selective
Ride Control. Available for the first time in 2003, Magnetic
Selective Ride Control uses a revolutionary damper design
that controls wheel and body motion with Magneto-Rheological
fluid in the shocks, making the Corvette feel as though
it extends from the driver's fingertips.
Safety and Security
Everything is standard on the 2003 Chevrolet Corvette, so
why would manufacturers stop at safety? All models offer
dual front airbags, antilock 4-wheel disc brakes, an antiskid
system, a tire pressure monitor and traction control.
