Interior Features
The 2003 Buick Regal is given the type of luxury features
that prompted its name. With the LS model, cruise control,
air conditioning with dual-zone manual climate control,
cloth upholstery, front bucket seats, 6-way power driver
seat, power mirrors, windows and door locks and remote keyless
entry are all part of the standard package. The GS adds
leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control,
an AM/FM/cassette/CD player, steering-wheel radio controls
and a trip computer.
For the fourth year, the Regal offers a special Joseph
Abboud package, inspired by the world-renown fashion designer.
The interiors of these models are given special club-style
front bucket seats with Rich Chestnut leather seating areas,
a leather-wrapped two-tone steering wheel and a Rich Chestnut
leather shifter boot. The Abboud signature emblems also
adorn the instrument panel, carpet savers and headrest.
Exterior Features
The Abboud influence continues in the exterior design of
these special models, as the Abboud signature emblem is
found on the taillamps as well. In addition, the grille-mounted
Buick tri-shield and 16-inch aluminum wheels are made prominent.
Performance
The Buick Regal is no slouch on the road. The LS model is
equipped with a strong 3.8-liter Series II V6 engine with
200 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. The
GS powers forth with a supercharged version of the Series
II V6. Capable of 240 horsepower, the mighty engine provides
280 lb-ft of torque at 3600 rpm. Estimated fuel economy
is 19 mpg in city driving and 29 mpg on the highway for
the LS and 18/28 (city/hwy) for the supercharged GS.
For added performance, the GS model is equipped with traction
control, antilock 4-wheel disc brakes, and Gran Touring
Suspension.
Safety and Security
Dual front airbags and the LATCH system for child seats
are standard on both models. For 2003, the Buick Regal has
a new interior trim on the pillars and roof rails, which
are backed with energy-absorbing foam for additional head-impact
protection and which exceed new federal requirements.
