When you give a model the type of royal title that the
Buick Regal has, you had better back it up. Anything else
would be uncivilized. Fortunately, Buick is not an uncivilized
company. And the 2004 Buick Regal is hardly an uncivilized
car. After all, it has remained a popular mid-size luxury
sedan for more than thirty years.
Only a refined automobile would have the privilege of working
with a renowned fashion designer such as Joseph Abboud.
The 2004 Buick Regal does just that. For the fifth straight
year, the makers at Buick team up with Mr. Abboud to offer
a special Regal model with unique color and trim touches.
Soaked with style, this Regal model is by far the most striking
of them all.
Available Models
The 2004 Buick Regal is offered in two models: LS and GS.
Interior Features
Variety is the key word with the Buick Regal. Along with
the Abboud model, there are two new Regal packages for the
2004 model year: a Luxury Package and a Leather & Luxury
Package.On
the inside, the Luxury Package features switchable reading
lamps and color-keyed front and rear carpeted floormats.
The Leather & Luxury Package adds leather seating surfaces,
dual-zone automatic climate control and a split-folding
rear seat.
The Joseph Abboud Appearance Package completes the Regal
with special two-tone leather upholstery, a leather shifting
boot and club-style front bucket seats, while Abboud signature
emblems adorn the instrument panel, carpet savers and headrests.
Exterior Features
The Abboud model also receives special treatments that set
off the grille-mounted Buick tri-shield and the designs
on the 16-inch aluminum wheels. With GS models, 16-inch
all-season touring tires are standard and aluminum or optional
chrome-plated wheels are available.
Performance
There are two engines offered with the 2004 Buick Regal.
The first, standard with LS models, is a 3.8-liter Series
II V6. It provides steady power to the front-wheel drive
Regal, giving it 200 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 225 lb-ft
of torque at 4000 rpm.
GS models feature a 3.8-liter supercharged Series II V6
engine that can dish out the same horsepower rating but
280 lb-ft of torque at 3600 rpm. Both engines are mated
to a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. GS models
have Gran Touring suspension to go along with their all-season
touring tires.
Safety and Security
Four-wheel disc brakes are standard. LS models have dual
front airbags, fog lights, daytime running lights and battery
rundown protection. The GS adds a driver side airbag and
a tire-inflation monitor.
