everybody's transportation needs, and comes in a variety
of body configurations to suit lifestyle and personal tastes.
Available Models
The new 2002 line up of Taurus vehicles is extensive,
offering a wide array of choices. Sounding the challenge
for their competitors this year are the 2002 Ford Taurus
LX Sedan, SE Sedan, SES Sedan, and SEL Sedan. For those
with greater cargo requirements, the sophisticated 2002
Ford Taurus SEL Wagon and SE Wagon are both sensible solutions.
Interior Features
The 2002 Ford Taurus boasts a long list of standard
comforts and conveniences, listing such available features
as power adjustable accelerator and brake pedals (standard
on SEL models), a 60/40 split seat to accommodate surplus
cargo, and a rear-facing third seat in the wagon model.
The sedan is also available in five-passenger or convenient
six-passenger seating configurations.
The SE Standard and SE Wagon are equipped with an AM/FM
stereo with CD player for entertaining the troops as you
cruise along. New for 2002, the SE, SES, and SEL come with
a handy cargo net.
Exterior Features
Also added to the package for 2002 are LED rear
high mount stop lamp and a wide range of new exterior paint
colors. The rear liftgate on the wagon models makes accessing
cargo simple and efficient. Its modern, flowing lines lend
to an elegant and contemporary look and feel that won't
get outdated.
Performance
Under the hood, the 2002 Ford Taurus features
an efficient 3.0-litre, six-cylinder engine. Two powertrains
are available: a 3.0-litre OHV Vulcan V6 that produces 155
horsepower and 185 lbs-ft of torque, and a 3.0-litre DOHC,
24-valve Duratec V6 that cranks out 200 horsepower and 200
lbs-ft of torque. Both accelerate quickly and quietly, with
the Vulcan option running on E-85 ethanol, or regular unleaded
gas.
Safety
and Security
The 2002 Ford Taurus has received a five-star
government crash test rating for driver and right front
passenger, and has received accolades from the Insurance
Institute for Highway Safety. Each vehicle is equipped with
a driver depowered air bag, passenger depowered air bag,
and electronic crash severity sensor. The list continues
with three-point seatbelts, child safety locks in the rear
seating area, and child seat tethers and anchors.
Side impact air bags are available to you as an important
option you should seriously consider. And finally, to protect
your vehicle and its contents, every Taurus is fitted with
the SecuriLock anti-theft system that prevents the ignition
from being started without the right key.
