Last year was the end of an era for the Cadillac Seville.
Instead, Cadillac is bringing in the all-new 2005 Cadillac
STS, a performance-oriented luxury mid-size sedan that has
truly eye-opening technological innovation, distinctive
bold design differences, and a hold on top your seat performance-tuned
attitude that really puts it into a class by itself.
Available Models
The 2005 Cadillac STS comes with either a high-powered V6
engine or a higher-powered V8 and these come with slightly
different trim levels, the V8 adding to the already generous
list of standard comfort and style elements. V8 models are
available in either rear-wheel or all-wheel-drive editions.
Interior Features
The four-door Cadillac STS has an upscale interior featuring
Tuscany leather seats, eucalyptus wood and aluminum trim
but the real interior story is in its state-of-the-art innovation.
This includes Keyless Access with push button start, Adaptive
Remote Start, which adjusts interior settings before you
get in, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) which maintains a
constant distance from the car in front, Intellibeam, which
automatically flips the headlights to low-beam when it senses
lights coming and a reconfigurable, four-color Head-Up Display
(HUD) that allows you to keep your eyes on the windshield
while driving.
Add to this a Bose personalized 5.1 Surround Sound system
with 15 speakers, integrated six-disc CD/DVD changer with
DVD-A, CD and MP3 capability and an eight-inch VGA-quality
touch screen, advanced navigation, OnStar, Bluetooth capability
and advanced voice recognition and you start to get the
picture.
Exterior Features
The 2005 Cadillac STS has all-new design based on the Sigma
architecture shared with the CTS and the XLR. Highlights
include vertically stacked headlamps and light-emitting
diode (LED) tail lamps, wire-mesh airfoil grille, horizontal
spine lines, and a dihedral-shaped hood. Seven-spoke 17-inch
or available nine-spoke 18-inch wheels combined with a flush
wheel-to-body relationship, ensures well-grounded appeal
and presence. The STS is the largest of the Sigma-based
cars with an overall length of 196.3 inches (498.6 cm) and
a wheelbase of 116.4 inches (295.6 cm).
Performance
Cadillac has upped the ante on power for the mid-size luxury
sedan with the STS. The base V6 is a 4.6-liter Northstar
capable of 255-horsepower from its 3.6L VVT (variable valve
timing) motor. Alternatively buyers can choose the 320-horsepower
Northstar 4.6L V-8 VVT. Both are mated to acclaimed five-speed
automatic transmissions with Driver Shift Control and both
have Magnetic Ride Control and StabiliTrak for supreme handling
ability.
StabiliTrak uses accelerator pedal position, brake master
cylinder pressure, steering wheel angle, lateral accelerometer
and yaw rate sensors to combine for exquisite road-handling
ability. The two-mode Magnetic Ride Control has performance
or touring selections for a smooth and quiet ride on a range
of rugged surfaces.
Safety and Security
The Cadillac STS is a very safe sedan. Antilock 4-wheel
disc brakes, dual front airbags, front side airbags, curtain-side
airbags, a rear-obstacle detection system, wiper-activated
headlights, cornering lights and fog lights all combine
with the performance handling and up-level communications
technology to improve the safety and security the driver
and passengers.
