The Montanan minivan has a slimmed-down lineup for 2005,
as it prepares to move into the shadowy realm of memory.
Along with the Grand Am, the Montana enters 2005 knowing
that it is the very last go-round, unless Pontiac one day
decides to revive it from the grave.
For 2005, Pontiac's minivan drops regular-length and all-wheel-drive
models. That means that there's only a front-wheel drive,
extended length wheelbase model. However, the Montana is
still safe, it is still roomy, it is still dependable and
it will still last quite a long time. Quality and craftsmanship
are two things that weren't forgotten, even if it is the
Montana's last year.
Available Models
The 2005 Pontiac Montana extended length is offered with
a 1SA package and a 1SE group.
Interior Features
Extended length Montanas can seat up to eight people. They
also offer up to 141 cubic feet of cargo volume.
The 2005 Pontiac Montana is fairly well appointed at the
base 1SA level. Some of the standards are front air conditioning,
cruise control, cloth upholstery, front bucket seats, cupholders,
power mirrors, windows and door locks, remote keyless entry,
an AM/FM/CD player and a digital clock.
1SE models add front and rear air conditioning with rear
controls, a 6-way power driver seat, second-row bucket seats,
heated power mirrors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with
radio controls, rear radio controls, a rear-seat DVD player,
a trip computer and more.
Exterior Features
Power operation for both side doors is available on all
models.
Performance
The engine used by the 2005 Pontiac Montana is a 3.4-liter
V6, mated to 4-speed automatic transmission. It produces
185 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque.
There are a number of performance upgrades offered by Pontiac
on the options list. Load-leveling rear suspension, traction
control, an air-inflator kit and sport-tuned suspension
can all be had at a modest fee.
A trailering package includes a trailer-wiring harness,
heavy-duty engine- and transmission-oil cooling and the
aforementioned air-inflator kit and load-leveling rear suspension.
Safety and Security
Antilock brakes and front side airbags are standard on the
1SE, optional with the 1SA. The Montana also has dual-stage
frontal airbags and available side-impact airbags for supplemental
protection for front-seat passengers. Dual-stage frontal
airbags are designed to help reduce the risk of airbag-induced
injury.
The 2005 Pontiac Montana is also equipped with the LATCH
(Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) system of anchors
for child safety seats. This system provides two lower anchors
and a top tether anchor to be used to secure a child seat
to the vehicle seat structure.
