The manufacturers at Dodge love to provide customers with
varied lineups that range from value to valuable. With the
Durango it is no different. There are no less than three
rugged engines powering this tough sport utility vehicle.
In another major change, Dodge offers an Adventurer package
for 2005. This outdoor-enthusiast lover's dream is perfect
for camping trips back into the wild. With the solid construction
of the Durango, you'll have peace of mind that you're not
going to get stuck out there when it's time to come back
either.
For 2005, Dodge Durango offers heated cloth seats-an industry
first for SUVs-on all Durango models, plus an available
full-screen navigation system.
Available Models
The 2005 Dodge Dakota Durango comes as an ST model with
two rows of seats for five-passenger capacity, and as SLT
and Limited models that seat seven on three rows. There's
also a new SXT model.
Interior Features
Practical features abound with the 2005 Durango. It has
a large and usable "fast food" bin at the base
of the center stack for extra storage room, multiple cup
holders and several power sources for phones and accessories.
However, so too do luxury features. The Limited model offers
automatic climate control, leather upholstery, an 8-way
power passenger seat, power-adjustable pedals, a memory
system (driver seat, mirrors, pedals), a leather-wrapped
steering wheel with radio controls, an AM/FM radio with
in-dash 6-disc CD/MP3 changer and heated power mirrors with
driver-side automatic day/night.
Exterior Features
The Adventurer trim includes a roof with a choice of six-rack
systems or an Adventurer Accessory kit. Also standard are
Satin Silver tubular side steps, reversible slush mats,
a rubberized, washable cargo liner with a built-in rear
cargo organizer and unique machine-finished aluminum wheels.
In addition, there's unique badging, unique mineral gray
side moldings with Satin Silver inserts, Satin Silver roof
rack side rails and mineral gray painted front and rear
fascias.
Performance
Dodge offers a standard 3.7-liter V6 engine with the base
ST model. It can produce up to 210 horsepower at 5200 rpm
and 235 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. 4-speed automatic transmission
is the sole setup for this motor.
The rest of the model lineup uses a 4.7-liter Magnum V8.
With 230 horsepower at 4600 rpm and 290 lb-ft of torque
at 3600 rpm, it is quite strong. 5-speed automatic is the
transmission of choice.
Then there's the 5.7-liter HEMI Magnum V-8. It pumps out
335 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 370 lb-ft of torque at 5200
rpm.
Safety and Security
Antilock 4-wheel disc brakes are standard across the line.
Curtain side airbags are optional.
