There are many small cars in the 2004 Toyota lineup, but
none are more diminutive than the Echo. It truly fits into
the subcompact car segment. There could be no confusion
in that regard.
If you don't want to spend a lot of money, the price of
the 2004 Toyota Echo is just right. However, with its stripped-down
tag, shoppers also have to realize that the standard features
aren't going to be offered in bunches. It's all part of
the value-packed deal.
To offer prospective buyers flexibility, Toyota makes a
number of upgrade packages available with the 2004 Echo.
This lets owners add on as many goods as they like so as
to fit their comfort requirements.
Available Models
The 2004 Toyota Echo is offered in one base model, with
a number of the aforementioned packages available.
Interior Features
The 2004 Toyota Echo is presented as a two-door coupe and
as a four-door sedan. Both models seat five and provide
up to 13.6 cubic feet of cargo volume.
Toyota isn't lying when they call the entry-level Echo
the base model. A tilt steering wheel, cloth upholstery,
front bucket seats, a center console, an AM/FM radio and
a driver-side visor mirror are about all the standard features
you get.
However, as mentioned there are plenty of upgrades offered
this year. A chrome interior, power windows and door locks,
an in-dash 6-disc CD player and more can all be picked up
for the Echo.
Exterior Features
Exterior features also compliment the list of optional equipment.
Alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, sport bodyside cladding and
color-keyed bodyside cladding are just some of the add-ons.
Performance
Leading the way with this year's Toyota Echo is a 1.5-liter
dual-overhead-cam inline 4-cylinder engine with 108 horsepower
at 6000 rpm and 105 lb-ft of torque at 4200 rpm. It won't
win you any races, but it will start up when you need it
most.
Toyota offers the front-wheel drive Echo with 5-speed manual
and 4-speed automatic transmissions. Base models don't come
with power steering, but that can be added from the options
list. It makes driving quite a bit more relaxing.
Great fuel economy is standard with all Echos. Manual models
for 2004 have a rating of 35/43 mpg (city/highway), while
automatics get 33/39 mpg (city/highway).
Safety and Security
Dual front airbags are standard. Fog lights, antilock brakes,
front side airbags and daytime running lights are on the
options list.
