The Honda Civic Si is a sporty hatchback that makes you
rethink your notion of Honda - that is, if you thought the
manufacturer only made the Civic for fuel economy purposes.
The 2004 Honda Civic Si has a speedy engine that is exclusive
to the Civic nation. It lets the compact roadster kick off
the starting blocks and allows it to easily handle passing
on the road. Really, nothing in the driving department isn't
covered by the Civic Si.
The 2004 Honda Civic Si also has a unique performance package,
plus an individual style. For 2004, that style gets a little
bolder with added features.
Available Models
The 2004 Honda Civic Si comes in one trim level.
Interior Features
The Honda Civic Si uses a hatchback body for looks and practicality.
In addition to being the fastest Civic, the Si also has
the most cargo volume. It seats five and provides 35.7 cubic
feet of room to work with.
The 2004 Honda Civic Si is well appointed on the inside.
A power sunroof is standard, and so are power mirrors, windows
and door locks, a center console, a leather-wrapped steering
wheel, an AM/FM/CD player, cruise control, remote keyless
entry.
Exterior Features
All 2004 Civic models feature new front and rear bumpers,
new headlights and a body-colored grille.
For 2004, the Civic Si has 16-inch wheels instead of 15-inch
ones. The exterior of the hatchback also includes a rear
spoiler, alloy wheels and 195/60VR15 tires.
Performance
As the sportiest Civic, it makes sense that Honda gives
the Si a sport suspension setup. This, coupled with a balance
system and power steering, creates a stable ride that is
highly responsive to driver input. In other words, just
what you want in a car.
The engine under the Civic SiI's hood is a 2.0-liter inline
4-cylinder model. It cranks out up to 160 horsepower at
6500 rpm and 132 lb-ft of torque at 5000 rpm. When you consider
that the Civic Si is a subcompact model, you can begin to
picture what the actual speed of this little guy is like.
The 2004 Honda Civic Si only comes with a 5-speed manual
transmission. It lets the driver feel the acceleration with
each shift of the gears. It also gives the Si a respectable
fuel rating of 26/30 mpg (city/highway).
Safety and Security
Like all Civics, the Si covers safety and security quite
thoroughly. Each 2004 model has dual front airbags, antilock
4-wheel disc brakes and an emergency inside trunk release.
A security system is optional.
