The 2004 Acura RSX is a sporty coupe that starts things
off for Honda's premium division. It is lightweight, sleek
and compact, and it can be had in an ultra-performance Type-S
model. The Type-S really steps up the power and style, and
most likely the blood rate of the driver as well.
Like all Acura models, the RSX is made with the finest
of materials. Aluminum-alloy engine and suspension components
are light in weight yet rigid enough to offer strength without
excessive vibration. Virtually every body panel is made
of double-sided galvanized steel to resist corrosion, and
the lustrous paint finish is formulated to protect the RSX
for years to come.
Available Models
The 2004 Acura RSX is offered in two models: base and Type-S.
Interior Features
The 2004 Acura RSX is undoubtedly a driver's car. It has
large-diameter metallic-face gauges that are grouped in
a pod that angles toward the driver. At night, the fire-red
backlit gauges really stand out in the darkness. And like
a racecar, the gauge needles zero out at the six o'clock
position.
Standard interior features with the base model include
air conditioning with automatic climate control, an interior
air filter, power mirrors, windows and door locks and more.
The Type-S adds a high-powered Bose AM/FM/cassette player
with in-dash 6-disc CD changer and leather upholstery.
The Acura RSX has a 17.8-cubic foot rear cargo area. It
also has a 50/50 rear seat that increases the total to 25.3
cubic feet.
Exterior Features
Acura offers a number of accessories that will increase
the audacity of the RSX. A body spoiler, splash guards and
a full nose mask can all be had.
Performance
The base 2004 Acura RSX model uses a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder
engine for 2004. It generates 160 horsepower at 6500 rpm
and 141 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. The transmission choices
for this engine are 5-speed manual and 5-speed automatic
with a manual-shift feature.
The 2004 Type-S really increases the strength and performance
of the RSX. Under its hood is a 2.0-liter I4 that cranks
out 200 horsepower at 7400 rpm and 142 lb-ft of torque at
6000 rpm. It uses a 6-speed manual transmission with a short
throw shifter and a short clutch-pedal stroke for effortless
gear changes.
Safety and Security
Variable power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering lets you
maneuver the 2004 Acura RSX out of danger when it appears.
Other standard safety features for 2004 include antilock
4-wheel disc brakes, dual front airbags and front side airbags.
