The 2004 Liberty Renegade model is the finest thing that
Jeep offers in the compact sport utility class. It has the
most towing ability in the segment, new features that include
safety, comfort and convenience and one other important
thing: the Jeep nameplate.
One of the newly optional features for 2004 couldn't have
come at a better time. It is a hands-free cell-phone link.
The system uses Bluetooth technology to link a cell phone
with the vehicle, enabling the phone audio to be heard through
the radio speakers. The hands-free system microphone, voice
recognition interface and phone button are then housed in
the rearview mirror.
Available Models
The 2004 Jeep Liberty is offered in three trims: Sport,
Limited and Renegade. Sport and Limited models are covered
separately.
Interior Features
Another new feature that accompanies the four-door Jeep
Liberty Renegade for 2004 is a power accessory delay function.
It maintains electrical power for 10 minutes after the key
is removed from the ignition or the front door is opened.
The 2004 Jeep Liberty Renegade is the most expensive Liberty
on the lot because it offers the most standard features.
A tilt leather-wrapped steering wheel, an AM/FM/CD player,
a digital clock, power mirrors, windows and door locks and
air conditioning are all included.
An in-dash 6-disc CD player, a power sunroof and steering
wheel radio controls are optional for 2004.
Exterior Features
The Jeep Liberty Renegade distinguishes itself on the outside
as well. Unlike other Liberty models, the Renegade now sports
new rock rail protection and black accent bodyside moldings.
Performance
The 2004 Jeep Liberty Renegade is one of the most powerful
compact sport utility vehicles you can get. When equipped
with 4-speed manual transmission and a trailer tow group,
the Liberty can haul the most cargo in the segment, up to
5000 lbs.
The engine responsible for this is a 3.7-liter V6. It gives
the compact SUV 210 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 235 lb-ft
of torque at 4000 rpm. 5-speed manual transmission is standard,
the 4-speed automatic optional.
All Jeep Liberty models are available in both two- and
four-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive Liberty models are equipped
with a Jeep's Command-Trac part-time transfer case or the
optional full-time Selec-Trac transfer case, both with a
low-range option.
Safety and Security
At the top of the line for a reason, the 2004 Jeep Liberty
Renegade throws in the most amount of safety equipment.
Dual front airbags, 4-wheel disc brakes and fog lights are
standard. Curtain side airbags, a new tire-pressure monitor,
limited-slip rear differential and antilock brakes are optional.
