The Denali is essentially an upscale version of the basic
Yukon model. However, it doesn't just push the scale up
a few notches, it practically blows the roof right off.
If you were to take a Yukon and load it will every available
option, it still wouldn't reach the level of the 2003 GMC
Yukon Denali. With exceptional handling, power in excess,
sophisticated safety systems and all sorts of comfort features,
the 2003 GMC Yukon Denali is a worthy occupant of the premium
full-size SUV segment.
Available Models
Because the 2003 GMC Yukon Denali basically comes with every
conceivable feature standard, there is only model offered.
However, for extra room there is also the Yukon XL Denali.
Interior Features
The 2003 GMC Yukon Denali seats up to nine with ease inside
its lush interior. Like other Yukon models, the seats of
the Denali have been redesigned to improve comfort, form
and safety. Unlike other Yukon models however, the Denali
has standard front bucket seats and standard leather upholstery.
Another standard feature that is an option with other Yukons
is eight-button steering-wheel controls, which provide safer,
more convenient audio adjustments, access to trip and fuel
data, personalization of up to nine vehicle functions and
a direct link to the standard OnStar system.
Some of the other impressive features in the 2003 GMC Yukon
Denali are as follows: XM Satellite Radio, 10-way power
front bucket seats with driver-seat memory, heated front
and second-row seats, high airflow tri-zone automatic climate
control, upgraded Bose AM/FM/cassette with in-dash 6-disc
CD changer and rear radio controls.
Exterior Features
Standard body-colored exterior rearview mirrors improve
safety and visibility with power-fold, curb-tilt capability
and integrated turn-signal indicators. In addition, they
also add memory to their previous features. For 2003, the
Denali is available in a new color: Carbon Metallic.
Performance
The 2003 GMC Yukon Denali excels when it comes to performance.
It is equipped with a Vortec 6.0-liter V8 with 320 horsepower
at 5000 rpm and 365lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. An all-wheel
drive configuration is standard, as is 4-speed automatic
transmission. Also standard is the StabiliTrak stability
enhancement system, which utilizes sensors to monitor suspension,
steering and braking to give the vehicle outstanding control.
A new Borg-Warner one-speed full-time, open differential
transfer case, replacing the previous viscous-coupled transfer
case, improves fuel economy and permits greater and more
flexible torque transfer.
Safety and Security
As manufacturers do a thorough job addressing every other
aspect of the vehicle, it is no surprise that they give
the Denali an advanced safety system as well. A new passenger-sensing
airbag system monitors the size of occupants and deactivates
in certain conditions where deployment would cause injury.
Stopping isn't a problem either, with HydroBoost hydraulic
power, four-wheel disc, four-wheel antilock brakes with
dual piston calipers, Dynamic Rear Proportioning and brake
proportioning differential valve.
