The 2003 Cadillac Escalade is the founding member of the Escalade line that now includes the EXT crossover SUV/pick-up and the huge extended Cadillac Escalade ESV, a match for the Chevy Suburban. The 6.0-liter Vortec V8 engine in the AWD Escalade has a power output 345 horsepower at 6000rpm and 380lb-ft of torque at 4000rpm. The AWD can tow up to 8500 lbs and a 4-speed automatic transmission does the shifting and provides the following specs for fuel economy; 14/18 mpg (city/hwy) from the 2WD and 12/15 mpg for the AWD model. Load-leveling suspension, automatic shock-absorber control, traction control and many other high-quality mechanical features add to the handling and performance capability of the Escalade.
