The Vue is a compact sport utility vehicle from Saturn
that combines safety, drivability and a modest array of
appointments. It isn't expensive or flashy at all, but it
is reliable and smooth, modest and confident.
2005 sees a number of improvements to this Saturn staple.
In addition to a new transmission choice, there's the new
available OnStar system. It features next-generation hardware
with upgraded hands-free capability.
But that's not all. Vue models, in particular the V6 versions,
also benefit from several new upscale exterior and interior
touches.
Available Models
The 2005 Saturn Vue is offered as a 4-cylinder model and
as a V6 model.
Interior Features
The four-door Saturn Vue has two rows of seating for a five-passenger
capacity. It can also be configured to carry over 30 cubic
feet of cargo with features such as a second-row seat and
front passenger seat that fold flat.
The 2005 Saturn Vue is designed to be practical for people
on the go. It has as a rear cargo organizer that flips up
to hold grocery bags, and side storage bins that can hold
other cargo. Bins, pockets and other storage spaces throughout
the Vue help prevent clutter.
Some of the available options include three audio systems
with MP3 readability, a rear-seat DVD system and XM Satellite
Radio.
Exterior Features
The exterior of the Saturn Vue also gets a touch-up this
year. Chrome headlamp bezels are now standard on all models.
V6 models now have chrome door handles and belt-line molding,
as well as body-color outside rearview mirrors. In addition,
a new five-spoke machined aluminum alloy wheel replaces
the painted alloy wheel on 4-cylinder models.
Performance
The 4-cylinder engine under the hood of the 2005 Saturn
Vue models is an Ecotec 2.2-liter model. It produces 143
horsepower and 152 lb-ft of torque. It is offered with a
5-speed manual transmission or with a new 4-speed automatic
transmission, which is available with front-wheel drive
models.
The Vue's 3.5-liter V6 engine not only makes the Vue the
most powerful SUV in its class, it also lets it go from
0-60 mph in seven seconds. It has 250 horsepower at 5800
rpm and 242 lb-ft of torque at 4500 rpm.
The V6 is mated to a 5-speed electronically controlled
automatic transmission with grade logic control, which helps
eliminate hunting between gears. Specifically engineered
for Saturn Vue by Honda, the powertrain also provides towing
ability up to 3,500 pounds.
Safety and Security
Safety features include front seat-belt pretensioners, dual
front airbags, antilock brakes and traction control (both
standard with the V6 model).
