Once again, Nissan offers the sporty Sentra SE-R. Not content
with the awards this car garnered in the early 1990s, the
designers have now added the even more powerful 2003 Nissan
SE-R Spec V with 6-speed manual transmission. Both models
promise to keep Sentra on the path to success.
Available Models
Both the SE-R and SE-R Spec V models are 4-door sedans,
equipped with a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine. The 2003 Nissan
SE-R is available in either 5-speed manual transmission
or 4-speed automatic transmission, while the Spec V goes
one step further with its 6-speed manual transmission.
Interior Features
The 2003 Nissan SE-R and the Spec V possess all the interior
features of the regular Sentra GXE model. These include
a tilt steering wheel, power steering, a height-adjustable
driver seat, a tachometer, and remote keyless entry. The
steering wheel in these cars is leather-wrapped, and cruise
control is also a standard feature. Both these models are
furnished with leather trim and metal-look finishes. The
seats in the 2003 Nissan SE-R and the Spec V are as comfortable
as their regular Sentra cousins, with the Spec V featuring
sport front seats that provide great body support during
quick manoeuvres.
Exterior Features
Wheels go one up on the regular Sentra models. The 2003
Nissan SE-R has 16-inch alloy wheels, while the Spec V has
17-inch alloy wheels, further boosting its sporty appeal.
A rear spoiler is standard on both models, as are large
chrome exhaust tips.
Performance
The 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine under the hood of these
sedans gives the SE-R a performance of 165 hp at 6000 rpm,
and 175 lbs-ft of torque at 4000 rpm, while the SE-R Spec
V does 175 hp at 6000 rpm and 180 lbs-ft of torque at 4000
rpm. While the Spec V's 6-speed manual transmission and
tight suspension provides it with a superior road-hugging
ability, the SE-R's sport suspension leaves it not far behind.
Safety and Security
Both the SE-R and the Spec V have anti-lock 4-wheel disc
brakes as a standard safety feature. They are also provided
with dual front airbags and emergency inside trunk release,
as well as fog lights. A theft-deterrent system with an
alarm is an option on these models.
