The 2003 Honda Pilot comes in a three trim levels; the LX
and the EX and EX-L.
Interior Features
The 2003 Honda Pilot offers the high level of luxury that
has come to be expected from the SUV class. Optional extras
this year include sophisticated electronics such as a navigation
system and a rear seat DVD entertainment unit. This features
a flip-down LCD screen and wireless headphones and can be
added to the EX-L.
The base LX offers air conditioning, interior air filtration,
cruise control, and cloth upholstery on front bucket seats
and a split folding rear seat, AM/FM/cassette/CD player,
power steering, mirrors, windows and door locks.
EX adds automatic climate control and an 8-way power driver
seat and a stereo upgrade with an in-dash 6CD changer and
remote keyless entry.
The EX-L adds leather upholstery and has versions containing
the sophisticated electronics. These are not factory options
as much as they are added cost models. The Honda Pilot's
do not have factory options.
Exterior Features
The 2003 Honda Pilot exterior, consistent with other Honda
SUVs, is both stylish and functional. Alloy wheels, roof
rails and an outside mounted full-size spare 235/70R16 tire
adds value. Rear privacy glass is standard on the up-level
EX model.
Performance
The Pilot is equipped with a sturdy 3.5-liter V6 engine
that powers all three trim grades. This powerplant offers
240 hp at 5400 rpm and 242 lb-ft of torque at 4500. It comes
with a 4-speed automatic transmission system and gets 17/22
mpg (city/hwy), pretty good for a vehicle that seats eight.
The AWD allows the power to be directed to the wheels that
have the most traction or can be set to be even front and
back.
Safety and Security
Dual front airbags, front side airbags and 4-wheel antilock
disc brakes are standard on all models.
