The hallmark of every Lincoln vehicle is its incredible
luxury: well-appointed, spacious interiors that offer every
comfort and convenience one could possibly wish for. The
new 2002 Lincoln Navigator SUV is no exception to this fine
tradition, and features impressive performance and a lengthy
list of safety measures as well.
Available Models
Lincoln has been so generous in building this
sport utility vehicle that it is deemed that only one simply
outstanding model is necessary, with a 2WD or 4WD configuration.
No need to offer different models over a broad price range
- the Lincoln Navigator is built and priced to appeal only
to those looking for luxury above and beyond the norm.
Interior Features
The Lincoln Navigator's lovely cabin is graced
with American walnut burl, premium leather upholstery, satin
nickel finishes, and white LED lighting - all new features
for 2002. Also making a debut appearance is a more spacious
third-row seat which power-folds and flattens into the floor,
power-operated running boards, and a power rear liftgate.
The seating capacity is seven or eight passengers over
three rows of seats. Luxuries include an eight-way power
adjustable seat with power lumbar support, power accelerator
and brake pedals, and tilt steering column. Automatic climate
control, cruise control, power door locks, power windows,
and an incredible sound system are just some of the numerous
comforts and convenience that absolutely overflow in this
SUV.
Exterior Features
A sophisticated and elegant exterior is, at the
same, rugged and bold in appearance. It headlines a chromed
Lincoln grille integrated into the composite hood, and features
large clear-lens quad beam halogen bright headlights. Each
vehicle is equipped with front fog lights, tow hooks, and
body-colored fascia coupled with charcoal lower reaches.
Protecting the sides of the SUV is body-colored cladding,
and the straight-pull door handles have an attractive chrome
grip set in a body-colored bezel.
The dual power outside mirrors are heated and fold away,
and they feature turn signals. Each vehicle is also equipped
with 18x7.5 inch cast aluminum wheels, with optional 18x18-inch
chromed aluminum Euroflange wheels for the 4WD models. A
power liftgate conveniently finishes of the package.
Performance
At the heart of the 2002 Lincoln Navigator is
a 5.4-litre, DOHC, V8 engine with four valves per cylinder
and a thundering output of 300 horsepower and 355 lbs-ft
of torque. A stronger new frame and suspension delivers
an exceptionally smooth and quiet ride with minimal lean.
Linear rack-and-pinion steering lends itself to precision
handling, backed by powerful brakes and the added power
and control delivered by the 4WD models for negotiating
challenging terrain and rotten weather conditions.
Safety and Security
Every Lincoln Navigator is packed with standard
safety features such as ABS brakes and optional AdvanceTrac
system. Front and rear crumple zones compliment side impact
door beams, and the interior is equipped with a driver side
air bag, passenger side air bag, and Lincoln's "safety
canopy" which deploys from the headliner instead of
from the side. This protects front and second-row passengers
from rollovers and side impacts.
This list of impressive safety measures continues with
three-point seatbelts with pretensioners, head restraints,
tire monitoring system, engine immobilizer, and Extended
Rear Park Assist for sensing obstacles in your path as you
reverse the vehicle.
