Designed with sporty flair, innovative lines, and spectacular
performance, this high-class 2002 Lexus IS 300 Sedan takes
to the roads for another year with several new twists to
keep the competition on their toes and perhaps green with
envy.
Available Models
New for 2002 are two exciting models that will
get your groove going - the IS 300 SportCross and the IS
300 Five-Speed Manual model. Rounding off the line up for
this year is the IS 300 E-Shift Sport sedan that hit the
market last season.
Interior Features
The luxurious Lexus IS 300 features an optional
DVD-based navigation system and standards in the SportCross
include a rear liftgate, split folding rear seat for additional
cargo space, and a fold-down passenger seatback to really
maximize storage space when you need it. The SportCross
also lists a tonneau cover, luggage box, cargo area false
floor, and a folding passenger seat with seatback table
and rear power outlet.
All Lexus IS 300 sedans sport an auto-dimming rearview
mirror, cruise control, front and rear dual cupholders,
automatic climate control with air filter, premium AM/FM
stereo with cassette player and six-CD player, outside temperature
gauge and tilt steering wheel. New for 2002 are items such
as electrochromic rearview mirror with compass, front center
armrest, genuine leather upholstery, and optional chrome
gearshift lever with leather knob. Other standards include
drilled aluminum pedals and stainless steel doorsill scuff
plates with rubber pads, green tinted glass, power door
locks, and power windows.
Exterior Features
The signature Lexus IS 300 Sedan's lines are
crisp, sharp, and tight, with traditional Lexus trademarks
like the front grille and headlight detailing. New for 2002,
the grille has three horizontal bars, and the tail light
housings are smoked gray on dark colors and chrome on light
colors. A rear spoiler has been added as an option (standard
on the SportCross). Other exterior details include seventeen-inch
aluminum alloy wheels, auto-dimming driver's side mirror,
halogen fog lights, and a rear wiper on the SportCross.
Performance
Truly outstanding when it comes to performance,
the Lexus IS 300 Sedan packs a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder engine
with variable valve timing, cranking out 215 horsepower
and 218 lb-ft of torque. The standard transmission of both
the IS 300 Sport Cross and the IS 300 E-shift is automatic,
while the Five-speed Manual model sports just that - an
exciting five-speed manual transmission geared at the fun-loving
younger crowd and other adventurers.
Safety and Security
Safety features have been upgraded this year,
including standards like brake assist and front side curtain
air bags. Vehicle skid control is available as an option
on the SportCross and automatic model, and you may add traction
control to that option as well. Other basics listed are
a passenger depowered air bag, driver depowered air bag,
head restraints, three-point seatbelts, child safety locks,
and child seat tethers and anchors. The body is reinforced
and features side impact door beams, and both front and
rear crumple zones.
