The very successful 2003 Oldsmobile Alero offers various
choices to the vehicle consumer. Excellent styling, good
value for money and a plush offering of standard features
and optional add-ons have resulted in a winning combination
that has made the Alero Oldsmobile's top seller in North
America.
Available Models
The 2003 Oldsmobile Alero is available in a couple
of incarnations with a 4-door sedan and a 2-door coupe while
the various trim-levels include the base GS, the GL1, GL2
and GLS (Sedan).
Interior Features
Air conditioning, cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering
wheel and an AM/FM/CD player are standard and welcome comfort
features in a climate that is getting hotter every year,
while front bucket-seats and a tachometer convey a sporty
feel that will satisfy those who want it.
Meanwhile, power door locks and steering are standard contributions
to comfort at the base trim level GS model. On the GL1 powered
windows, mirrors and driver's seat adjustment are also included
but the GLS has the all-leather upholstery and a 6-way power
driver's seat.
Exterior Features
The GLS also has some exterior detailing upgrades with polished
alloy rims to enhance the look and style of this already
popular compact car. But that is not to say the other trim
levels have skimped on style and comfort
A great selection of major options packages are also available
to tailor your 2003 Oldsmobile Alero to your own needs and
desires. The Sun and Sound Package includes a stereo upgrade
and power sunroof. The Sport Package adds both performance
and detailing components but these are just two of many
possibilities.
Performance
The true distinction between the different models are under
the hood. A strong 140 hp 4-cylinder 2.2 litre engine powers
the GS and GL1 models with 150 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm.
These both have a choice between 5-speed manual or 4-speed
automatic transmissions.
On the GL2 and GLS models, a more powerful 3.4 litre V6
has a whopping 170 hp 4800 rpm that produces 200 lb-ft of
torque at 4000 rpm. To control this significant increase
in power these two models have a variety of mechanical attributes:
traction control, sport suspension and a rear spoiler.
Safety and Security
All models of Alero come with dual-front airbags and daytime
running lights. The more powerful V6's come with 4-wheel
anti-lock disc brakes a new addition from last year.
