If you are really intrigued by the Hummer H1, but realistically
can't see yourself driving a former military vehicle to
and from work everyday, you should consider the Hummer H2.
It is a dominant off-road force with an undeniable design
and the comfort of a luxury vehicle.
Though the 2004 Hummer H2 isn't quite as able as its brother
the H1 in terms of off-road ability, it is still extremely
tough and aggressive. But on top of that, manufacturers
took a bit of detour, outfitting the H2 with enough standard
items to place it in the luxury class of sport utility vehicles.
Available Models
The 2004 Hummer H2 is offered in one base trim.
Interior Features
The 2004 Hummer H2 is that four-door wagon that you see
on all the rap videos. It seats a total of six people, enveloping
them in decadence.
The standard package of the 2004 Hummer H2 leaves no doubt
why the SUV gets its luxury billing. Some of the features
included are air conditioning with dual-zone automatic climate
controls, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with radio controls,
8-way power front bucket seats with lumbar adjustment, a
memory system (driver seat, mirrors) and a Bose AM/FM/cassette/CD
player.
For options, there are heated leather seats, navigation
radio, an in-dash 6-disc CD changer and a power sunroof.
Exterior Features
The 2004 Hummer H2 takes an H1's body and adds a few touch
ups. It has a vertical glass windshield that opens up a
broader front and wider side view. Exposed components, such
as hood lift handles, hood latches and fasteners, give H2's
appearance an individually component-assembled quality.
Performance
Though it can't touch the H1's performance, the Hummer H2
is never going to be called a slouch. After all, it can
still blaze through streams 20 inches deep, climb 16-inch
steps and rocks and push through deep sand and mud.
The 2004 Hummer H2 has a 6.0-liter Vortec V8 engine. It
is mated to 4-speed automatic transmission and produces
316 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 360 lb-ft of torque at 4000
rpm.
The H2's standard independent front torsion bar and five-link
coil spring rear suspension provides excellent on-road performance,
while a solid rear axle ensures durable sure-footedness,
particularly in tight off-road situations. A self-leveling
rear air spring suspension system is available for severe
off-road requirements.
Safety and Security
The 2004 Hummer H2 has a Bosch four-channel anti-lock braking/traction
control system, dual front airbags and the OnStar system
in its safety package.
