The X5 has a single body type with three versions, offering
different power and trim levels. These three models are:

Interior Features
All of the 2003 BMW X5 models comes with excellent ergonomic
interiors fitted with functional enhancements and a high
standard for comfort-related basics. Some of the former

condition, rear-climate controls, and an active charcoal
filtration system that will keep the interior air tasting

The 2003 BMW X5 comes with three engine choices. The first
is a 24 valve, 3.0-liter V6 that comes with a manual 5-speed
or an automatic 5-speed with Adaptive Transmission Control
and steptronic automatic/clutchless manual capability. It
gets 15/20 mpg (city/hwy) and manages an impressive 0-60
in 8.1 seconds. The 3.0-liter has 225 hp at 5900rpm and
214 lb-ft of torque at 3500.
The award-winning 4.4-liter V8 engine powers the next one
up. This powerplant has 325hp at 6100 rpm and 330 lb-ft
of torque at 3600. It also comes with 5-speed adaptive automatic
transmission.
The 4.6i is the top engine and model X5 choice. It increases
capability so that this BMW X5 does 0-60 in 6.2 seconds.
This one offers a commanding 340 hp at 5700 rpm and 350
lb-ft of torque at 3700 rpm.
Safety and Security
The safety portfolio is very impressive. All models have
integrated deployment logic for safety-belt pre-tensioners,
airbags and post-impact safety measures. This system extends
to the dual front-impact airbag Supplementary Restraint
System (SRS) with dual-threshold and dual-stage deployment
and the front-compartment Head Protection System (HPS) with
front side-impact protection. Optional extras on the 2003
BMW X5 enable the addition of rear-door mounted side impact
airbags as well.
